Aston Martin premieres customised DBX

DBX bespoke design customisation

The DBX that is scheduled to be placed on a stand at the motoring show, allowed the brand’s design team to explore the darker side of Aston Martin. As a result, it features 22-inch gloss black alloy wheels, in addition to a striking Satin Xenon Grey paint finish. Externally, Q technicians also fitted the carbon fibre lower exterior package, with some complimentary anodised sill and tread plaques.

To equal the exterior’s brooding appearance, the cabin has been outfitted with options from Q. These include the abundant use of Obsidian Black leather, offset by a diamond checkered satin chrome “jewellery pack”.

The centre console is adorned in carbon fibre, machined from a solid block and the same material carries over to the door inserts. According to Aston Martin, the raw slab was hand laid and comprises 280 separate layers of cloth. It takes engineers ninety hours to machine the trim components.

On the floor of the cargo area is a continuation of the exposed carbon fibre look, this time with a herringbone pattern.

Designers on possibilities

Aston Martin’s in-house Chief Creative Officer, Marek Reichman wanted to point out this was just one thematic option customers could consider.

“Of course, the example shown today is just one sphere of inspiration that can be explored, but with DBX providing the ultimate canvas to bring a vision to life, I fully expect to see a wide and broad variety of creations over the coming months”, Reichman explained.

The above options are all part of the Q by Aston Martin collection. Aston Martin states the available personalisations include a wide number of specially selected paint colours and materials.

Reichman summed up the offering, saying: ‘Q by Aston Martin’ offers the tools to those who have an uninhibited desire to push the boundaries of what is achievable”.
